Life has taught me to trust my instincts and follow the art rather than leading the art. I love color, strong bold color and soft pastels; I let the colors do the talking. Through the process I quickly learned that white can be a kind of glue that holds the other colors together.
I started painting in 2004. I have no formal art training and was mystified on the use of paint brushes, yet determine to not let this lack of knowledge stop me. I quickly picked up some rollers and sponges to go with the acrylic paints, stretched canvas, and easel.
Through the process of following my intuition I graduated from rollers and sponges to pallet knives and combining my hands and experience as a hand drummer to interact with the paint and the canvas.
For me it's all about the activity of painting, the color, the movement, and the energy. I don't focus on the finished product, it starts with the colors, and then the movement and the energy created through the movement as it blends together with the colors creating textures and a dance of color on the canvas.
